30 nights · Best October to April

A slow month on Vancouver Island

Thirty nights, three bases and time to actually live somewhere — built for remote workers and long winter escapes.

Use this as my starting point

A month changes the trip entirely: monthly rates, a kitchen, a routine, and weekends for exploring rather than a checklist. Three bases of roughly ten nights each covers the Island's range without living out of a suitcase.

30 nights across 3 stops, about 320 km of driving.

Day by day

Weeks 1–2 — Victoria

The easiest place on the Island to work from: fast connections, coworking, a walkable downtown and green space in every direction. Weekends go west to Sooke or north to the Malahat.

Weeks 3–4 — Cowichan Valley

Canada's warmest region. Farm gates, cideries and wineries, river swimming in summer, and the Cowichan Valley Trail for daily walks — an hour from both Victoria and Nanaimo.

Weeks 5–6 — The west coast off-season

Tofino and Ucluelet empty out after the summer and monthly rates drop accordingly. Storm season runs through winter, and the trails and beaches are yours.

Good to know

  • Stays of 30 nights or more are usually priced monthly rather than nightly.
  • Stays with a minimum of 90 nights or more are exempt from BC short-term rental registration.
